Early in a sng

Got two high suited cards hands which I feel like I botched, I always get attached to my 1 pair hands when I hit and I'm being faced with my tournament life. Anyone got any specific suggestions for how I could have played these hands better, or general strategy for playing high cards when they hit against unknown opponents?

The first one, this raise PF sucks.

After a post about this, I decided to stop raising AQ pf in early levels, also. The UTG minimum checkraise screams of a monster, knowing most people won't laydown for only 150 more chips.

I think you need to need to bet the turn on the first hand. You don't want to give free cards on a scary board. If you are going to call an all-in bet on the river when another scary card hits, then you should have pushed the turn. Also, you possibly could have raised less on the flop, since you've pretty much commited yourself to the hand with this big of a raise.

It doesn't suck it's a good isolation raise given the situation.

I'd push with the first hand on the turn.

First hand: If you feel you have to play this hand, just limp. Secondly, push the turn. You're already pot-committed anyway.

Second hand: Don't raise this hand. Just limp. It makes it much easier to get away from in later streets if you feel you're beat, because the pot will be smaller.

I thought a limp was more appropriate. I agree 'sucks' was probably taking it too far, but I don't want to put in 70 chips with kq that early.

Hand 2: Seems ok the way you played it.

Hand 1: I like raising PF here. I would raise 60 (3x BB + 1BB/limper). Its not a big deal but it is a way to make your raises a standard amount and make people not have the correct odds to call your big hands. Unless you have some uber read on the way this guy plays and that since this guy called the flop you are beaten you have to push the turn. If he had K10 you are going to lose this anyways. The way you played it you give him infinite odds to see the river and no chance to fold an ace or draw.

First, I don't like KQs at all. I like my position though, and I expect to use it, I limp here. That said, the way you played it, you've obviously got to raise flop, but certainly not to t250. Once you do that, you're commiting yourself to the pot. I raise to t175 or so. After he checks turn, it's likely he's on a draw, there's a bunch of chips in the middle, and I'm picking those up.

Hand 2: Once UTG check-minraises, you either fold here, or you're getting your chips in the middle somewhere down the line. Since there are few draws out there, I call this one. And once the somewhat scary turn comes, I'm pushing no matter what.
