View Full Version : A few reassuring old threads

So I decided to search for myself in the archives because I like to do this from time to time to humble myself after I feel like I've made a dickheadish post. After reading a couple awful hands I posted, I found a few threads that should be reassuring to the general public:

Are online games getting tougher? (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=370247&page=&view=&sb=5&o =&fpart=all&vc=1)

A funny thread where a few respectable twoplustwoers discuss how the online game is getting tougher, and how the pond is drying up. This discussion takes place a year and a half ago, and things seem to be chugging along nicely anyway. Funny how Schneids was one of the biggest doomsdayers and now he's making more than he could have dreamed of at the time.

I used to play terrible and have no clue how to play (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=mediumholdem&Number=456173 &Forum=,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,All_Forums,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,& Words=&Searchpage=14&Limit=99&Main=456130&Search=t rue&where=bodysub&Name=4794&daterange=1&newerval=2 &newertype=y&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post45 6173)

This is a hand posted less than a year and a half ago when I was taking a HUGE shot at 30 60 with 5 BB for no good reason. My regular game was 5/10 at the time, and I had taken a shot that day at 10/20 and won decently, so I figured I'd try 30/60. Look how awful the questions I ask are in SUCH a typical hand. I would brutally murder someone if they posted a hand like this and checked the river, or even questioned the other decisions in the hand. I also then go ahead and throw in a bad beat story at the end, hahaha. Reassuring for the masses, I guess, because it shows you what a HUGE difference a year or so can make.

It's amazing how much our play progresses over time.

I recently read a post of mine about a year ago, on how I played an NL 100 hand and I'm amazed at how awful I played it.

As for the speculation of the future of online poker, just goes to show you that no one knows for certain what will happen.

Just enjoy the Golden Era while it lasts...

Haha, maybe a bunch of you other mid-high types should go back and find the worst hand you posted and link it, so we can all have a good laugh /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I raise pre-flop with KQo because "if reraised I can fold with ease".

I /images/graemlins/heart.gif GoT though.

Can anyone show mathematically if there is a point at which the game could be too passive?

Love it.

I found this old thread in which I broke the twoplustwo formatting with some scrolling and blinking:

It's not reassuring, but it is kind of amusing.
