I don't do these sorts of semibluffs HU too much, but I thought this was a great spot. This guy could easily be on ace high, king high, or some other bluff. What do you guys think? Also the flop call is thin, but I have bd straight draw...so like 7.5 outs and expect to get free river a fair percentage of time.

I don't really like it with a paired board. Villian knows you are unlikely to have a 5. So, if he was betting a paired 9 on the flop, the 8 doesn't scare him into folding. If he was betting trips on the flop then he will 3-bet you in a heartbeat. If he was betting Ace high then he probably calls you down. I think this play is more worthy if the Q hits on the turn because it gives your semibluff more value as it is easier to represent KQ or AQ and get him to fold a better hand. I also think it's dangerous to semibluff on a paired board when that pair is so low because you will always get 3-bet and getting 3-bet on a semi-bluff sucks.
