. . . Should I have gone for a river checkraise here?

(Comments on other streets are also welcome.)

CO is 41/2/1.63 after 100 hands.

Just from what has been happening to me lately, I've been whiffing on these 1-card straight river check-raises. Furthermore, if he does bet a marginal hand or even a total bluff, he might well not call a raise with it. I think it's better just to bet and be done with it.

All I get is whiffs when I try that. I've done it on drawey boards when I boat up, and all I do is end up giving a mid pair a free showdown when they probably would have paid 1 to see the river anyway.

He folded.

I guess he just had diamonds or an ace or something, or he decided his 97s was no good when I bet the river.

I think the river bet was all right, but I do also think I don't checkraise the river enough (which is why I posted this hand).

Thanks for the responses.

this board is going to get checked behind a lot.

There's no point, one bet is probably all you'll get out of him either way (if even that), and if you bet and he doesn't call, fine, you don't have to show...
