View Full Version : Help: Need to get to Vegas as Cheaply as Possible!!! (x 1Tbl)

OK here's the plan: I live in Omaha, NE and I need to get to Vegas as cheaply as possible. I would consider just driving down there, but if I could find cheap plane tickets I would go with that option as well. I will probably also need to stay in a hotel for 3 nites. I don't care if the hotel is the biggest shithole imaginable as I would only spend a few hours there. I want to play in event #2 $1500 buy-in NLHE on June 3rd, so I would probably arrive in Vegas on June 1st or 2nd and spend every moment at Rio playing $125 SNGs to accumulate chips (I am a 9% ROI player at Party $109s so I'm fairly certain I can probably acquire the $1500 much more cheaply playing satellite SNGs).

OK, so what are some suggestions for the cheapest possible 3 nite hotel stay and round trip airfare? My friend thinks I can get a 3 nite stay for around $75 and hopefully airfare isn't too bad either. Would it be possible to make this work for under 3 or 4 hundred?

Thanks so much, playing in a WSOP prelim event would just be awesome and I'm determined to make it happen.

Furthermore, I'm just trying to get my post count to 100 with pointless posts.

Have a nice day.

why not multitable SnG's x/hrs a day and declare all profits towards tournaments, the SnG's on party have lower juice, lower variance, go faster, and you can play many at once

Buy a brick of coke. Hitch-hike to Vegas. Buy baking soda, make crack. Sell rocks.

Prob a smarter idea than playing SNGs in Vegas. The problem isn't really the buy-in for the WSOP event, it's getting to Vegas fairly cheaply and finding cheap lodging.

You need to check and see how far this 'cheap' hotel is going to be from the Rio. The first time I went I stayed at the Plaza and played in tournaments at the Mirage for the first few nights I was there. I spent so much in cabfares from the Plaza to the Mirage and back that I wasted money by staying at the cheaper place. It was like a 17 dollar cab ride and I was only using it to go back and sleep at night and then come back and play more. It adds up fast. So try and find a hotel/casino close to the Rio.

Check the travel section of the Sunday paper (the Weird-Harold, as I remember) for travel agency ads. There should be cheap LV packages there (air plus hotel) that may hit your time frame.

Driving would avoid local transportation expenses, and let you stay at a decent place away from the strip or downtown.

If your so worried about saving $4 a night on your hotel, maybe putting up $1500 to enter a poker tournament isn't the brightest idea.

Go to the airfare forum and see if anyone can dig something up for you.

Does it really make sense to go all the way to Vegas on less than $1500? I'm all for winning your buyin via a satellite, but I think you have to be prepared to buy in direct if the satellites don't go your way. After all, it would suck balls to get all the way from NE to Vegas with the hope of playing in this event, and then not be able to. Build your roll so you can pay for 2-3 satellites, and if none of those work, just buy direct.

My friend was telling me about www.flyi.com (http://www.flyi.com) She said that you could get really cheap tickets, it's a new airline or something.

Something's "off" here. If you're a 9% ROIer at the 109's how do we find ourselves needing to get to Vegas for pennies on the dollar? Much less not having the $1,500 when we get there to buy-in direct.
