Okay. One aspect of the game that I am still not comfortable playing is when I have the big stack and the game is short handed. Funny, most of you are probably saying, "You idiot. That is exactly where you want to be. This is where it gets to be fun." Perhaps that is true. But I'm still learning how to play this thing, and I've gotten comfortable playing the early stage and the middle stage. BTW, I realize that just because I've become more comfortable playing those levels doesn't mean that I continue to make the correct judgment. But at least, at those stages, my judgment is not clouded by the additional fact that I'm uncomfortable. But I'm digressing, and your time is valuable.
Anyway, I get uncomfortable as chip leader because I don't want to blow it. I'm ahead. Barring some bad luck, if I exercise good judgment, I'm in excellent shape to drive up my ROI.
Problem is this — I'm not sure how aggressive I'm supposed to be. Do I loosen my starting requirements when I'm first in the pot? How big a raise do you make upon entering the pot? Do you mini-raise? Do you just push? I've been in games where the big stack employs each of these strategies.
Now, I know that these questions cannot be answered in the abstract, and that there are many factors to consider, such as how much of lead you have and how the other folks have been playing. So, to make this more concrete, I'm going to provide a HH beginning when I am the chip leader on the bubble and all the way to my final hand. You will see how I played the hands, and I'd like to know what you think of my play if you have the time to review it.
Plus, I hope that this will be helpful to other people as well, not just me.
