A friend sent me a link to a keyboard that has no letters on it daskeyboard (http://www.daskeyboard.com) and it got me thinking about typing classes of old. So this is a chance for those who can't be friends with the friends of supermodels or make thousands of dollars by day and relax with a coconut and hot tub by night, to brag about something important. Lets see some results.

Typing is the only class i ever flunked. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But back when I was a journalist, I used to hunt & peck 30+ words per minute.

79 wpm, 0 errors.

Thats gotta be inflated though, cuz i took some 'risks' i wouldnt normally take to get a faster time, if anyone can understand that.

I think ~120 wpm is fine. I can copy a looseleaf page into Word in about 2 minutes, so it's fine. There are periods where I go really slow, but then once I get into it again I can knock off like 200 wpm it seems.

And I've gotten too used to QWERTY. I never look at the keyboard anymore. I just look at the monitor or sometimes I just close my eyes and type until I am finished.

I used to be proficient with Qwerty and Dvorak. Dvorak is faster and much easier on the wrists, but I stopped using Dvorak because my girlfriend uses my computer at home and switching back and forth was not worth the hassle. (It's not a hassle to switch, but it wasn't worth the hassle I got from her when I forgot. Leave the toilet seat up? No problem. Leave the keyboard in Dvorak mode? Dishes start flying.)

I remember back in grades 4-6 I did Mavis Beacon at school. I didn't get good until 6th and that was because of AIM. lol. Anyways I got up to like 70 WPM with like 95% accuracy. I am no doubt better now, but whenever I try your link, it stops working after like 3 words. DAMN THIS SLOW INTERNET.

This thread reminds me of that time Peter Griffin said he could recite the entire alphabet A-Z in one second and then proceeded to yelp.

45 WPM /images/graemlins/frown.gif

although I think that since I tried to backspace to get no errors and I dont type many of those words on a daily basis I am faster with regular typing.
