I've played some 12,000 hands at 0,25/0,50 level. The first 8,000 I didn't have pokertracker but i did ok think I was at 3,5BB/100.

That was when I decided to go play at party. I started out winning 60BB and I also cleared the bonus of another 60BB (my visa wouldn't allow me to deposit more than 300$).

After this I got into a serious downswing of more than 180BB. I don't blame it all on the cards, there must have been several leaks in my game I believe.

I bailed out and got back at 0,25/0,50 I also bought SSH. After reading SSH and doing ok at 0,25/0,50 I took another shot at 0,5/1,0 this time at paradise, But it is all the same after 4,000 hands I was down 100BB.

Now I'm doing super on 0,25/0,50 with 9BB/100 hands after 5000 hands.

Since I've had two bad runs at the next level I intend to stay at 0,25/0,50 until I have more than 20,000 hands in my pokertracker database. Just too identify any leaks in my game and also to have a bankroll which is more than 300BB at 0,5/1,0 so I can afford to waste a few bucks while learning.

Is this the right direction or should I just go take the third shot right away..?

Any help at all is appreciated I'd like to move up, and I think I'm ready B/C SSH has made me think somewhat different.

If you don't feel capable, become a better player. Post hands, respond to hands, find out why you're raising, folding or calling for.

Well the think is I do feel capable now...

Only thing is that I've become weak about this after two fails.

But eventually I'll need to go there sometime, so in the end it doesn't matter all that much I guess.

I had the same thing happen to me when I moved from nanos to .5/1 at party. I was playing okay-I just wasn't winning. I went up and down a few times but, really, I just had to get used to the bigger bet sizes (which were tightening me up a bit and also worried me).

Personally, I think that if you're going at 9/100 at .25/.50, your problems with .5/1 are internal. Some .25/.5 games (at stars, specifically) play tighter than .5/1 games on party.

I had this happen to me again when I moved to 1/2. The answer for me was to commit to playing a certain # of hands (for me it was 5,000) at the higher level, regardless of results, before moving down. The "downswing after moving up "phenomenon, though odd, happens to most of us.

Just keep at it, (bonus whoring alwys helps), and you'll eventually be in the green if you're a winnign player.

you need a bankroll and you need to feel like you're ready. that's it. whether or not you feel ready varies from person to person.

I personally don't use any specific winrate over # of hands kind of thing, I just kind of "know" from the way my opponents play whether I'm better than them and should move up"

I think some ppl who want to move up are speding way too much time at micros. it's cool if all you want is to play .5/1 and destroy some fish, but I see a lot of 60K .5/1 samples with 3BB/100 winrates from players who seem like they want to move up. that's crushing the game, and they obviously have the bankroll, so why not give it a shot?

FWIW I spent about 5000 hands at .10/.20, 5000 hands at .25/.5, 10K at .5/1, 20K at 1/2, 10K at 2/4, and about 12K at 3/6
