I don't know how to use the poll so if someone can make a poll of all the beers, that would be great. Anyways my three favorite beers are heiniken, budweiser, and coors light. What's yours?

"Anyways my three favorite beers are heiniken, budweiser, and coors light. "

I was going to make some sort of crack about how many times this topic has been posted before, but to be fair you've taken a whole new angle on it.

My favourite bad beer is probably Jupiler. Actually it's not bad at all, but it's nothing very special; just your bog-standard Belgian lager available everywhere. But it's good drinking. Something I really miss here in the land of pisslager. I have confessed to enjoing a Miller Lite whe I was extremely thirsty and jet-lagged.

Good beer wise, I like Leffe (all three varieties), Rodenbach, most kinds of Kriek (OK so I'm a girl), Guinness, Negro Modelo, SchneiderWeisse, Adnam's Broadside and lots more. There are so many good beers out there I don;t think I could ever choose a favourite.

Hmm, I'm only familiar with the first three. They're what are available in your bog standard Beligian suburban supermarket and pub. The last one sounds like some kind of special issue super-expensive brand so I'm not sure it counts.

I'm sure I like all five. I will confirm soon.

Yes the name could indicate that but it isn't. It comes in a 33cl standard botlle like the rest of them. The taste is very similar to Radieuse. They both have appr. 8.4% ABV. Both I can get in quite a few supermarkets here in Denmark.

Drink either of those and follow it with a Sierra, and the Sierra will have virtually no flavor.

India Pale Ale. Back when India was still part of the British Empire, sailors needed a beer that would stay fresh over the long voyage. Brewers discovered that a beer with higher alcohol and higher hops helped the beer stay extra fresh during the trip. Thus, an IPA has a relatively high alcohole content and a ton of hops. Delicious.

the answer is guinness.

i really, really dislike people who order it in the US (its awful), and who think it's really good but have no idea what they're talking about. it doesn't taste very good to most people the first few times they have it, most people lie though. It is an acquired taste, IMO. I didn't like it at first but kept drinking it and now I think it is the best ever.

What makes it even better is that since I live in NY I can only drink it right every once in a while... and when I do it is golden, as opposed to drinking it every weekend (or 5/7 days...), which I would if I lived in Ireland.

Paulaner Hefeweizen is one of my favourite white beers.
Negra Modelo is probably the only Mexican beer worth drinking (but I'm not sure, I don't get to try much up in Canada).
I've never had a Sierra Nevada brew I didn't like, but again I don't get them that often.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bass Pale Ale. It's a delicious light UK ale, and bearer of the first registered trademark. It's probably my favourite English beer, ahead of even Newcastle.
On tap I drink Kilkenny Cream Ale at any opportunity. The campus bar used to have $4.25 pints, but they figured out they were getting soaked and pumped it to $6.50 this year.
For local microbrews I like Big Rock Black Amber Ale (though nearly any Big Rock brew is worth trying) and some brown ale by Alley Kat.

For cheap beers I really like Rolling Rock and Pilsner.

Unfortunately Dogfish Head is difficult to find here in Los Angeles. Stone's is, of course, easy but I prefer the Dogfish.

I think they might have it at The Wine House. I'm headed there at some point today, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Thanks.

This was an utter and total failure. Not only did they not have the IPA, they didn't have anything from the brewery at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

Suck.

Hi Time Wine Cellars (http://hitimewine.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=400953&csurl=%2FiStar%2Easp%3Fa%3 D29) has the 120 IPA, but it's down in Costa Mesa. Wally's (http://www.wallywine.com/) (on Westwood between Santa Monica and Olympic) might be worth checking but they don't list their beers online.

TRIP REPORT:
I asked jason about easily accessible beers. And by easily accessible, I meant gas station or 7-11 accessible. He suggested Guiness, but I could not find. My friends agree tho that guiness is goot. Oh well, I bought a 12-pack of presidente on the house. It was fun. PZ.

Doesn't anyone drink Rogue brews? I haven't tried one beer from them that was below excellent. The DeadGuy Ale is the nectar of the gods!

I'm a Guinness and Harp fan, myself. I also spent an extended period in the Czech Republic and their beer is incredible.

Gambrinus, Budvar (the real Budweiser), Pilsner Urquell are all excellent. Krusovice was a guaranteed hangover for me, though.

It's also cheaper than Pepsi (and in some places, cheaper than water.)

Fat Tire > Sierra Nevada

Also, you didn't even mention Sierra Nevada Porter, which is their best brew. FWIW, Sierra was my favorite "everyday" beer up until about a year ago when I started drinking Fat Tire.

New Belgium Brewing is oustanding.

I don't really think "favorite beer" can be answered, it's like "favorite song." It's so dependent on mood, time of day, weather, etc etc etc.

Favorite brewery would be a good question, as would favorite stout, summer ale, hef, pale ale, etc etc etc.

But favorite beer? no such thing.

Great call. If I'm having more than one at a time, though, I like the 10 a little better.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's a bit odd as they don't make a 10 /images/graemlins/cool.gif 12, 8 and 6 they do. I assume you mean the 8, which is indeed a great beer too. I don't know why I didn't include that on my list

Have you been to the monestary/cafe? In addition to the fantastic beer, they make some of the best ice cream I've ever had.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, I haven't had the chance to get there yet, but it's on my list of "Beer Mekka's" to visit:

Münich Octoberfest (Check)
Bamberg (Check)
Plzen
Brussels Beer Festival (Check)
Westvleteren
Great British Beer Festival
An American Beer Festival

I don't know how to use the poll so if someone can make a poll of all the beers, that would be great. Anyways my three favorite beers are heiniken, budweiser, and coors light. What's yours?
