What are most underrated TV shows (running or canceled)?

My votes go in order:
1) News Radio
2) Reno 911 (season 1 was brilliant, season 2 was a disappointing)

No one I knew every watched News Radio but that show sure was awesome. Look at this cast:

Dave Foley
Stephen Root (voice of Bill and Buck Strickland on King of the Hill and actor who played Milton)
Joe Rogan
Andy Dick
Maura Tierney
Phil Hartman

Phil Hartman made the show. After he died they tried to replace him with Jon Lovitz (who had already guest stared as other characters on the show) and the show tanked.

I really hope they come out with the whole series on DVD.

News Radio was awesome. For people from the Seattle area, Almost Live was also hilarious.

This is hard because most television shows are crap and it's difficult to underrate crap. The few good shows are on HBO (The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, CYE) and nobody really underrates those shows.

I guess I'd have to go with the OC. People on this forum have said they would sooner stab icepicks in their eyes than watch this show. I watched and felt no such compulsion, thus I feel it is underrated.

Almost Live used to be broadcast nationally on Comedy Central about 10 years ago. I think Comedy Central used to be called Comedy City, or The Comedy Channel back then. Anyways, did anyone else from that show besides Bill Nye the Science Guy ever find success afterwards?

Two great shows, another good one started Chris Elliot in "Get A Life" were he was a 30 year old paperboy. This show last a season or two on Fox.

Stephen Root also helped make this show, at first he was not a regular character on the show.
The way Phil Hartman's character tormented Andy Dick's character was priceless to watch. I didn't really like Andy Dick, but his show on MTV "The Assistant" was pretty good.

I will tout this show until the day I die. Was very surprised there were so many fans on these boards the last time it came up.

Another one is "Ed"

I was going to say this too. Awesome show but only one season. Go get it on DVD NOW.

I saw the blonde bully-girl at a bar a couple weeks ago. I went up and told her how much I liked her character and the show and how it should never have been cancelled. She thanked me and gave me a hug. Nice moment.

I did not add that White Chicks sucked.

NewsRadio was an awesome show. I'd have to add the Contender, because it did not get picked up for a 2nd season and the first got such low ratings. Also, My So Called Life was underappreciated.

TV Guide called it "the best show nobody's watching". DVDs rule, for this reason!

Glad to see someone mentioned Ed. I'm also a big fan of Scrubs. And Aqua Teen Hunger Force... possibly the most overrated show ever, but maybe that's cause I don't smoke up before its on.

Having two posters mention "Sifl and Olly" and a third mention "The Critic" re-establishes my faith in humanity.

Great shows.

Nobody said Duckman? I remember Sifl & Olly, it was on when I was in 5th grade. About 7 years ago. Good show. Back then I also used to watch Bobcat's Big Ass Show with Bobcat Goldthwait. I don't remember if he did the voice or not. I really miss having Nick GAS, too, Legends of the Hidden Temple is the best. Nick Arcade and GUTS are great, too.

Oh, and Pee Wee's Playhouse was the [censored].
