I raise to 250-300 here, it doesnt risk to much of your stack in case someone shoves and you have to fold.

Why push? Do you not want him in the pot? If not, then raising to 250-300 from 100 will probably not do the trick. Probably around 500 will be more reasonable. But even that is still not enough to warrant just pushing outright.
