I have heard constantly that when I have the hand, I should bet bet bet, and I think I tend to make the mistake of not betting when I have a good hand more often than I make the mistake of betting when I have a good hand and shouldn't. Would this be a case where I should check and reraise and plan to bet out on the turn if it's checked around?

I usually bet 75...but really not a big difference.

I'd say check if it were an aggressive table, but what up with all the limps preflop?

I'd bet 50, wanting someone with a 9 to feel pretty confident.

There are no draws on that flop to protect against. I check the flop and maybe the turn to give people a chance to bluff or catch up to a good 2nd best hand.

I'm 50:50 betting half pot like you suggest versus checking. Everyone might fold though if there are no pairs yet and no other 9's, versus someone might pair up on the turn and hang around to extract some chips from.

i'd go for a check-raise and lead the turn if called.

You should lead this flop.
Checking makes it too difficult to get the money in against a 9 as you have to decloak at some point. You want to lead for an amount that doesn't look like a trap, but is small enough that a stupid 9 will come over the top of. Leading for 100 is fine and will get CALLED by the 9, but you risk having an overcard scare him off on the turn. Bet 65 and hope to get a raise from a 9. You'll also get curious calls from overcards with this line, and if they pair up on the turn you can mash them.

IMO. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

BTW, keep posting interesting hands.

Nothing like round 1 to set your image at the table too. Show the hand, regardless.

I normally don't check trips, but this seems like a harmless enough board to give someone a freebie. If you do bet, I think you are better off with something smaller, like 50ish.
