Just sat down, etc. UTG and UTG+1 seem like OK players from limited observation.

Preflop: Hero is CO with 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif. SB posts a blind of $0.5.

easy fold. think of it this way...would you feel comfortable calling this bet, then pushing on the turn if the 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif came off?

don't draw to a hand that you're afraid to bet...

Also, what could UTG and UTG+1 be holding? And why play it that way?

89s? NFD? poorly played set? 88? poorly played nuts? small straight?

My advice - regardless of this hand, write a message to the big blind; tell him that he made a mistake. Direct him to the $25NL tables.

someone playing a stack that small is just annoying.

btw- you should know when calling a raise from the shortstack that there was a 95% chance that he was going to go all on the flop. If it was HU, I would have folded preflop.

Regarding this hand, I think you should fold. You have 6 outs you're going to feel good about. If you could guarantee that no one will bet the turn, it might be worth it. But you don't have the odds for one card, the turn may cost you a fortune, and if you hit, you might not get paid off.

Well there was no way I could call in this situation so I did the only thing any really-bad-but-self-respecting poker player could do...I pushed all in. UTG and UTG+1 both folded (UTG+1 thought about it for a bit then typed 'I'll get your stack later'), and I turned the straight against short stack's set. Thanks for the odds, shorty.

MP3 ($164.5)
Hero ($103.25)
Button ($46.35)
SB ($96.5)
BB :#A500AF(Villain)/ ($20.75)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif. SB posts a blind of $0.5.

Flop: ($22) 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (5 players)
Villain calls $16.75 (All-In), UTG calls $16.75, UTG+1 calls $16.75, MP2 folds, Hero calls $99.25 (All-In), UTG folds, UTG+1 folds.

Turn: ($171.50) 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($171.50) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $171.50

Villain has 6c 6s (three of a kind, sixes).
Hero has 5h 5s (straight, seven high).
Outcome: Hero wins $171.50.

As it turns out I need to get just over 4 to 1 on my money against a set! So even assuming everyone else would fold, this is just a +EV play.

[/ QUOTE ] It seems to be happening more and more at $100NL. I blame Miller for this horrid situation, a trigger happy short stack and several deep stacks tends to complicate the game dynamics, especially OOP.

This guy certainly wasn't playing the strategy I suggested in GSIH.

6 outs needs 3:1...

moving all-in bought you 2 more outs and only need 2.2:1 for that...

be happy you were playing vs short stack... good bet.
