What do you guys think was one of the best scenes of all time. This doesn't mean that the rest of the movie has to be good just the scene.

Here are some nominations from me in no particular order:

Comedy:

Dali Llama plays golf - Bill M. (Caddyshack)
Star Wars Racist\Whats a Nubian? Scene (Chasing Amy)
End Dance Sequence (Nepolean Dynomite)
Origin of the Watch - C. Walken ( Pulp Fiction)

Westerns:

Bar Shootout Scene (Unforgiven)
Aim for the Heart ( A Fist Full of Dollars)
Doc Holiday - Ringo Fight ( Tombstone )
OK Corral Fight ( Tombestone )

Action:

Say hello to my little friend scene( Scarface )
Col. Kurtz's Death (Apocolypse Now)
The End of the Game ( The Game )
The Cure Scene ( Clockwork Orange )

Romance:

I have no idea...

Thats just off the top of my head.

Interesting. I'd have to think about this one, but I can tell you my all time favorite scene is from Rush Hour. Chris Tucker's move to kill the Asian Guy and then his one-liner is awesome.

This is one of the few submissions I like so far. I have no clue what the best scene ever is 'cause there are so many great ones and I have no clue how to seed them, but I do know what scenes are NOT the best ever: anything from The Usual Suspects, Deep Blue Sea, or The Sixth Sense.

I'm guessing montages shouldn't count? For dramas, the final scene from Touch of Evil comes to mind. Also, I am Spartacus. For romance, the scene in Amelie where she opens the door to chase after the guy and he's right there and without saying a word she pulls him in and does the three kisses thing. That's all I got right now. I = tired.

THAT was a good scene. I'm pretty sure it inspired Spielberg in the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

Wow, NH. Maybe my favorite scene from anything, ever. I'm not exaggerating.

Whoever mentioned the final bar shootout scene from Unforgiven, that's a great one too.

Amost any sceen from Stripes, but the one that really stands out to me is when John Locoreete is standing there reviewing his men, and the private says, no sir those arent your men, heres your men..then they proceed to fall over the obsticle course, and I always lose it watching John Candy go through the woods.

Ok, since no one else has said it, I must admit I liked the sceen in rounders at the end when he busts Teddy..I always wondered what Teddy had - aces up?

The dream sceen at the beginning and then end of Gladiator when he is dead and returning to his wife and child, very powerful stuff

The exorsist - the first time the priest sees the demon child, still makes me get goose bumps every single time.

- House of Blue Leaves in Kill Bill (Vol 1)
- End scene of Memento
- The party scene from Mulholland Drive (where the story all comes together)
- The whole vegas scene from Swingers
- Bill Murray's news casts as he gets repeatedly more agitated in Groundhog Day
- "Yeah, thats my bad mutha fucka wallet" from Pulp Fiction
- Pretty much anything from American Beauty
- The scene from Saving Pvt. Ryan where we find out what Tom Hanks does for a living
- When Ed Nortan first meets Tyler on the plane in Fight Club ("hows that working out for you...what...being clever...great...well keep it up then")

Some that were already mentioned that I love are the club scene from Goodfellas and the watch scene from Pulp Fiction.

The opening scene of Touch of Evil

[/ QUOTE ]

Great one.

Let me also add:

- The opening from the Matrix where Trinity jumps and is suspended in mid-air. Basic stuff now, but it was jaw-dropping and revolutionary when it first came out, like many scenes from the Matrix.

- The scene in Shawshenk where Andy and Red discuss how Andy is laundering the warden's money through a phantom man.

Can't believe Braveheart isn't in here.
The end when he's being tortured/killed.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was trying to pick a scene from Braveheart and I coulden't come up with one. There isn't anything special about the ending compared to the rest of the movie; it's just a great overall film. Maybe where they ransack the guard tower and William Wallace slices the neck of the lord who killed his wife.

The Third Man - Ferris Wheel Scene

Fear and Loathing - "We were just outside Barstow when the drugs began to take hold."

Don't believe we've seen "Luke, I am your father" so, I'll add that.

Snow battle at the end of Kill Bill, Vol. 1
Superman speech in KB V. 2, as well as final Bill fight scene.

Basketball scene from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Bottle Rocket - "My Name's Dignan, so what?"

Game of Death - Pretty much the whole damn movie, but I guess I'll go with the Kareem fight scene/ending.

I could go on forever with this. Great thread.

From Dusk Til Dawn:

Selma Hayek's striptease scene with the snake while "After Dark" by Tito and Tarantulas is played live.

Best scene in movie history ever. And it's not even close.

Movie sucked, in my opinion.

Christopher Walken's entire performance in Things to do in Denver When You're Dead. It's all in the eyes and in the inflection.

The opening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. True to the book.

Sidney Deane: Hey hey man, what's the score? Yo! Chump! I'm talking to you! I'm talking to the [censored] air.
Billy Hoyle: My name ain't chump, it's Billy Hoyle.
Sidney Deane: Billy Hoyle. BILLY HOYLE. Billy Hoyle. Okay Billy... can you count to ten, Billy?
Billy Hoyle: Yeah.
Sidney Deane: Good. What's the score... Billy?
Billy Hoyle: I don't know.
Sidney Deane: Then you're a chump.

i would have to nominate the end of blade runner when batty allows deckard to live. other good scenes from movies include the reprogramming of alex's mind from a clockwork orange or the "you cant fight in the war room" from dr strangelove
