What's up guys and gals? I have been reading these forums for several months now and have finally decided I know enough to contribute some unexpert opinions. For my first post I am just wondering if some one can tell me how to play jacks utg, when I should fold aces pre-flop, and how big of a bankroll I need to plays xxs sit & go's? (joking)

Anyway here is my first hand history, no real reads on this guy....

If I am beat, I don't think I can get away from this hand with any chips. Push.

First, I would have folded preflop in lvl 1 with AQ, even suited. There are no other limpers to make it profitable. 3-way, on that flop you will usually win a small pot or lose a big pot.

Ok. Let's assume I made the call you did. I hit the flop about as good as I could hope with A-rag-rag with only a flush draw (that your opponent will almost never have here since the A is a heart). I figure that I am either way ahead or way behind and smoothcall my stack off.

In situations like this I would also type the player into pokertracker, and if their stats are high, I fold, call down otherwise. Bad players will have AT, AJ, TT-KK enough times here to make the call correct I think.

Anyways, do you see how much difference there is between AK and AQ in the early levels? AK plays itself here, AQ puts you in a real pickle I think.

I call as well. The flush draw is not too scary, and I need to get AJ, AT, KK, QQ, and any random hands to come along for the ride. I push turn, no matter what it is.

Yeah, I really understand what you are saying here. I almost always fold A/Qo in this situation which probably means I should be chunking A/Qs as well. It is just one of the hardest spots to play but in the future I think I might just avoid this pickle as you suggested, especially this early.

Thanks for the reply

FWIW, if the raiser had just limped instead, I would put in a raise to 70 or so. So I still play AQ in lvl1, but almost never to a raise (unless it is a minraise, or is becoming a family pot).
