You know, buy 5 packs at the grocery store for $1, sell each pack for $1, or each piece for $.25 ..

Selling gum? Is that some kind of euphemism for giving blow jobs?

You should have charged more than $1.

I used to know this kid who would rip off the local convenience store, and then sell gum for about $.25 a pack. I think he joined the mob later.

The kids at my school were dumb, but not dumb enough to pay $1 for a pack of gum.

I definitely bought lots of Atomic Fireballs at a nickel each and sold them for a quarter. Nice little racket I had running during 5th grade lunch.

Ever see how much snacks cost at the Movie Theater? Are people "dumb" enough to buy it there?

That was incredibly uncreative and unfunny. Give it another shot, dude.

I sold warheads in middle school. They used to be huge. I'd sell them at 1000% markups.

Would've been tough to sell gum for $1 when the vending machine sold the gum for 25 cents.

At movie theatre, you're a trapped consumer. There's only one vendor to buy from. You don't have that problem at school.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. At school, I could not leave whenever I wanted, and there was nobody selling gum there except possibly entreprenurial kids.

A few lameass thoughts:

-You can bring your own candy to the movies, but people still buy it there.
-I don't chew gum, and I sometimes did bring my own candy to school. I wasn't a customer of these people.
-Yes, if anyone was selling gum at school they were preying on those who lacked the foresight or intelligence to anticipate their need for gum at school and bring their own.

Blowpops. I used to buy the bag and charge .25 each.

Lots of kids were doing this and the school actually did their best to outlaw the practice.

Same here. The real profits rolled in when those Blue Rasberry blow pops came out in a box. Boxes were always better value than bags.

Wow, this is just weird. I did sell gum in high school. A partner and I bought gum in large quantities from Alpha Beta warehouse in Long Beach. We'd be getting them cheap, I think it was maybe 15-20 cents for a pack of Hubba Bubba.

We'd then sell them for 50 cents a piece. But, we didn't do the selling. We recruited many freshmen who would go around selling them. They each got a bag of gum $10 worth every morning. They'd be paid $1 commission if they sold it. The top seller each week got a bonus.

We had the school mapped out so all areas were more or less covered during each passing period. Also, the thing was that gum was not allowed on campus, so they had to be a bit sneaky. Eventually, the operation got too big, and we had to stop it... we then ran a lottery for a little while. We made good money (by high school standards).

I never sold gum.

Early high school, I impersonated people's parents and forged notes.

Late high school I ran a sportsbook and a blackjack game.
