I had been caught stealing out of the SB with Kd7d a few hands earlier by a shortstacked BB.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

SB (t3755)
Hero (t1990)
UTG (t2940)
Button (t1315)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
1 fold, Button calls t200, 1 fold, Hero raises to t1990 (All-In), Button calls t1115 (All-In).

Flop: (t3405) T/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: (t3405) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: (t3405) 2/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: t3405

i think with the stacks being evenish a check might be in order...

that said, i make this play (the push) in hands like this all the time, i end up regretting it a fair amount though.

in the end, when the blinds are high and you have any kind of a hand a push can't be THAT bad of a play.

but given those stack sizes, i would be looking for steals where noone has entered the pot yet rather than pushing on a limper(I guess i am saying that I am generally playing for third here?). even the bigger stacks can't get overly aggressive. alot depends on the table dynamics though of course.

now a real reply:

If you're not gona do this w/ A4, what are u gona do this with? i like it. Has he been known to limp in w/ monsters? Has he been stealing? If this is out of the ordinary, i'll be a bit scared, but still push and throw my house across the room and swear when he flips over AA.

I would do the same thing probably unless the button had been agressive and now limped which would be out of character for him

He was a habitual limper, so his limp wasn't out of the ordinary. He called with KQ.

I don't like the push for one reason - there is a limper so i know there is a lot more chance my hand is going to get called, and i dont think i want a call with this hand (plus they may have less respect for your pushes due to getting caught out earlier). Having said that, i'm happier making this push on 50+5 then i would be on 10+1, as they're more aware of the gap concept. Still a fold for me.

What about just raising the limper to 600 or so? He may give you more respect with a more standard raise. If he responds by pushing all-in, I fold. If he just calls, I fire a continuation bet on the flop. I think he folds to that bet without a pair or better, and calls/raises with a hand that beats you at which point you can slowdown and still have plenty of chips to make the money with.

I like the push only if it's against a habitual limper, especially if you've seen him turn over garbage that he limped with. Against someone who suddenly limps and hadn't before, I don't think it's worth it. There seems to be a recent surge of limping with monsters preflop that suck to run into on that type of play.
