IRC chat question

When bored at work I occasionally chat on 2+2's IRC chat. I don't use IRC other than that and know practically nothing about it. Suddenly today I can't connect to the server and I get an error message "You need to install identd to use this server."

I googled it but I'm too lazy to go through the stuff I found, so if anyone has a quick wasy answer, I would appreciate it.
