Prima 1/2 NL
Hero: $600
Villain: $251 (No read. I know that he's a winning player)

Hero is dealt: 4 /images/graemlins/heart.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif

Villain is BB and I am the only caller.

Flop: 4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif5 /images/graemlins/heart.gif7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
He bets $5 (pot), I re-raise $15. He intacalls.
Turn: 7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif giving me the boat.
He bets 1/2 pot. I just call planning to C/R the river.

River: 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

He checks, I bet $40. He raises to $100 straight. I just call.

yes you are.

he probably has a 7 or a straight.

he definitely doesnt have 2 7s otherwise he wouldnt have checked preflop. the just call is super weak, an easy push.

It looks from the rest of the action that you have position, so I don't follow this logic. Raise the turn. Given that you didn't, yeah a river push seems pretty obvious.

I don't think a winning player will call a 3bet push on the river with a 1-card straight on this board. If you push and get called, I think you get shown a bigger boat.

As others have said, though, raising the turn would have been good; then the pot will be of a size on the river that you can get all-in and get called by a straight.

During the hand I was convinced he had a bigger boat but in retrospect a turn raise and a river all-in is appropriate.

This time I just called and won against the one card straight.

I just couldnt see anyone playing a onecardstraight this way.

Don't agree. Villian is OOP and has a chance to see a cheap flop with a smallish pair.
Also, not raising pre-flop gives away no information.

That said, I still push.
