Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (5 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

UTG (t3040)
MP (t1050)
Button (t1546)
SB (t1584)
Hero (t780)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
3 folds, SB completes, Hero goes all in [t780] t200, SB folds.

Final Pot: t400

Is this standard, or did I make a stupid play?

Blinds are so high that imo you have to take all the opportunities you can get to steal the pot, if he does call you chances are you could be looking at a 40/60 so not too bad

It's not standard, it's read dependent.

If you know there is a good chance SB will fold, then yes, it's a good play.

If SB will call with marginal hands, then no, it's not a good play because he'll call and have you beat most of the time.

The fact that you're short stacked and the blinds are high does mean you need to be much more aggressive, but this hand is pretty crappy.
