I think one of the reasons I like the 6-max SnGs is that it's not nearly as important to build a big stack early because there are fewer chips in play. I feel like in 9 or 10 man SnGs you have to double up at least once, and that's chancy preflop and rare postflop (i.e. you need a very LAG opponent or an ideal situation like 2p vs. a set) But while very good, it's not as key in the 6 man ones.

I feel like shorthanded play is all about aggression and picking up the small pots. Thus you don't have to take hands to showdown as much even when likely ahead. Of course one shouldn't take that idea too much to heart - but I think it's correct to fold this flop. What do you think?

You want me to bet 2500 chips into a 255 pot? What do you think he'll call me with?

I think you are ahead here often enough to warrant a call. He is short stack (though not desperate of course). I think the push indicates a lone /images/graemlins/diamond.gifA and top pair often enough. If you think he would be capable to push a flush/set here I think folding is fine.

What buy-in is this?

Oh, and what is with the 4xBB raise preflop? Is it mostly for stealing or for building the pot? Why not 3xBB?

I'd be more comfortable folding if you had made a >half pot bet. If I'm villain I could literally have anything here.

Why would I want to call if he's freerolling on me?

I'm behind to a lot of things on this board.

$12 + $1

Because I want to reduce the implied odds to call. 3xBB won't make a lot of hands fold, and they are in fact correct to call.

If you make a potsized bet then his push would give you 2:1 odds. Would you call?
