I have a very basic question about pot odds. If all the cards are out and the pot is 100 and an opponent bets 20 am I getting 6-1 odds or am I getting 5-1? I was reading through TOP and his first example is kind of hard to understand. thanks

6 - 1

There is 100 + 20 in the pot for 120. It is 20 to call. 120/20 is 6. 20/20 - 1. 6 - 1

If the opponent made the pot 120, then you are getting 6-1.

If the pot is 100 before he bets 20 then you are getting 6:1 (120:20). If the pot is 100 after he bets 20 then you are getting 5:1. I suspect that is where you are getting confused.
