While this wont apply to most people who post here on a regular basis, I'm sure there must be a large number of lurkers who are guilty.
You hear it again and again on this forum that the rake at the 5+1's is too high and the play is no different from the 10's. But I've never actually seen it written down to show just how much $$$ you are costing yourself by playing the 5+1's.
So here it is:
My stats at the 5+1's:
159 games, total cost $954
21 1st = $525
26 2nd = $390
24 3rd = $240
Total profit = $201
Now assume I played those at the 10+1's:
159 games = 11*159 = $1749
21 1st = $1050
26 2nd = $780
24 3rd = $480
Total profit = $2310 - $1749 = $561
This is nearly 3x what you win at $5+1.
Towards the end of a post I was reading the other day somebody made a very important point which I will re-emphasise here:
If you are multi-tabling the $5+1's then you might aswell single table the $10+1's.
You win twice as much for less than twice the cost, you will concentrate better on 1-2 screen's than you will on 2-4.
If you are a $5+1 player and have read this, there is no excuse not to move up, you are costing yourself money.
