When did "dominating" become a word in a sense other than "Kris Benson is dominating the Yankees right now"? Isn't the word "dominant"? I.e., most "dominant" athlete? The bobbleheads on ESPN, for example, have made a habit of referring to a player's past performance as "dominating". I always thought the performance was "dominant".

Ervin Santana was dominant against the Chi-Sox last night.

Ervin Santana is dominating the Chi-Sox right now.

I believe that dominant would be past and dominating present. I could be way off though, grammar is not my thing.

Yes. I hate when people do this. I hate the word "crispy" too. The [censored] word is crisp for God's sake!
