Going to Commerce for the first time this weekend --- playing mid limit (9/18 through 20/40) --- which limit has the best (loosest) players: 9/18, 15/30, or 20/40? Thanks in advance.

I've only played 9/18, but it was loose.

9/18 plays like 3/6 pretty much.

I'd rather play 20/40 than 15/30. Seems looser IMO.

9-18, but you get free food at 20-40 and it's still very soft.

Do NOT play the 15-30. It's much worse than the others (but still good).

If you played at Commerce more often you could afford a car. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Find some other UCLA kids and get a carpool going.

I'm a UCLA student and I take trips to Commerce with my friend occasionally. Usually once a week. Well, it has been ever since I turned 21 last month. I can't really answer the OP's question about soft limits though, as I've only played some of the low limits and now I play 20/40, since my normal game is online 15/30. But yeah, 20/40 has the free food benefit and people there have money but no real knowledge of the game (in my experience).

This is what I saw last time I went:
- Old tilty guy who capped preflop with A8s after UTG limp/reraised. He then raised and capped the flop with middle pair 8s. Same guy also 3-bet me with 99 when I raised in EP with QQ and then he 3-bet me on a rag flop and continued firing into me.
- Not *as* old, but still tilty asian guy. He'd call any amount preflop with any drawing hand. He'd draw for any number of bets if he had a draw. 66 on a A93 flop was a draw to him. He wasn't the only one I saw drawing with pockets.
- And then there's the regular loose/passive players, limping with 54o UTG, etc.

LOL. It takes me 4 hrs to drive to get to AC and I still get down there twice a month /images/graemlins/laugh.gif. You gotta want it!

thanks for all the advice...I think I'll take the majority's opinion and play the 20/40. I'll be there during the day shift friday, so stop by and say hi. I'm the....wait, I don't want to tell you who I am, I want to blend in as a fish....nevermind. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Care to elaborate?

For anyone else: Are these games 9/18 or 20/40 any good during day/swing shift? I thought I heard someone say at another game recently that the Commerce rake is higher than most...true?

The 9/18 rake is $4 + $1 for the jackpot. It's fine.

Why is it a joke? Because the players are horrible at poker. Loose, passive at the wrong times, aggressive at the wrong times, chasing without odds, not using position, not making hand reads. Just bad, bad, bad players. And profitable. Doesn't matter what time of day. Just sit there.
