It's not a bad beat, and your preflop and flop play is correct. That 7 is a terrible card on the turn, however. I might fold the turn fearing trip 7's, not the flopped straight.

CO, is a poster, so he is basically in the hand for free. Before he closes the action PF, three other people call, so I think he has the odds to call with a wide range of hands. Its early, so you probably didn't have much read on CO, so its to hard to tell if he is a LAG or what. I think you played the hand correctly, and I am guessing he had some absurd hand.

its obviously party rigging the deck for the poster /images/graemlins/wink.gif
seriously, the play looks fine, its not a bad beat, just poker.
I hope this isn't the blind leading the blind, anyway, my 2cents on bad beats.
Hero must have a monster for a hand to qualify as a bad beat. Some would say a bad beat is 2 pair being beat on the river by a straight when villain didn't have the odds to call. But thats exactly the type of call where we make our money. (can I make that claim yet? 4bb/100 over 7k)
