Jeopardy Ultimate Tournament of Champions finals starts today with Ken Jennings vying for the 2 million prize. I can't wait to see if he still owns.

Put it in his pooper.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't win. That guy is a machine.

He will win easily. I wasn't too impressed by the two guys that got through, and the few people who I thought would have a shot at Ken lost surprisingly early.

Yes I am a Jeopardy nerd. The best part is that I'm having my wife tape these while I'm at class.

You obviously aren't a jeopardy nerd then.

Brad Rutter could beat KJ pretty easily, he has comparable buzzer speed and knowledge (he was the million dollar masters winner and hosts his own quiz show), and if its tight between Brad and Ken, Jerome could also win because his knowledge on the harder/more obscure questions that come up in final jeopardy are better than Ken/Brad (he is 5 for 5 on final jeopardy in the UTOC), also if Ken and Brad are in the lead but very close in scores they are going to be forced to bet HUGE on final jeopardy and Jerome could squeek in because of this.

I have watched probably 95% of the UTOC thus far.

i'm sorry if this is just silly, but tv.yahoo says that jeopardy new episodes are only on at 3:30 in my time zone. does that make sense at all?

Because it is common courtesy to alert people if you are giving away results to something that hasn't aired for all people?

Jeopardy! is sindicated(sp?) so its time varries from market to market (not by time zone). In most cities that I know of, it is on at 7:30. However it is possible that it is on at 3:30 in your city.

At the beginning of the show, I thought Ken would run away with this. I guess I was wrong about that. It looked to me like Brad and, to a lesser extent, Jerome improved their buzzer speed about halfway through the match. At the beginning, Ken was clearly the best on the Buzzer.

Three days, highest total points wins.

Scores after day 1:
Brad: $18,400
Jerome: $16,400
Ken: $16,000

I was in a high school competition with Brad and he's incredibly fast on the buzzer. The kids from his high school are a bunch of preppy jackasses, but that's besides the point. (They would have popped their collars if that kinda thing was done in the mid-90's.)

I completely forgot this was on this week so I have nothing really relevant to add here. Why am I apologizing? This is OOT. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

He still was in control most of the game. Did you notice how he was saving the Bible category for last, hoping that the daily double would be there? If he hits it, he is leading by a healthy margin after today. He is willing to hunt for and risk a lot on daily doubles, which sets him apart from Brad. I expect Jerome to fall by the wayside tomorrow.

Did anyone think that final jeopardy question was ridiculously easy?

I'm definetly not trying to brag, but don't most people know the answer (or rather, question)?

SCORES ENTERING FINAL JEOPARDY!
Brad: $14,200
Ken: $13,000
Jerome: $12,400

FINAL JEOPARDY! CATEGORY
IMAGES OF AMERICA

VENUSIAN MONOLOGUES/MARTIAN CHRONICLES
All 3 of you: Treat this clue as if it is a Daily Double that all 3 of you play, taking into account the scores and your comfort with the category when determining your wager.

FINAL JEOPARDY! CLUE
Citing John Winthrop, who said, "The eyes of all people are on us", Ronald Reagan liked to compare the U.S. to this

FINAL SCORES
Jerome: $12,400 + $4,000 = $16,400 (What is a shining city on a hill)
Ken: $13,000 + $3,000 = $16,000 (What is a city on a hill)
Brad: $14,200 + $4,200 = $18,400 (What is a city on a hill)

There's no way I would have gotten the "Shining city on a hill" question.

The FJ for day 2 was the following, not verbatum FYI:

This important Hollywood figure who passed away in 1959 was famous for his support of religious government structure

it was the director of the movie the ten commandments
