hand mucked after it is exposed

This recently happened in a live MTT I was in. I don't remember what the cards were exactly, but they aren't really important, so I'll just make up what I can't remember.

pf: player 1 is all-in, player 2 calls, and has him covered. Both players turn over their cards. player #1 has 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 5 /images/graemlins/club.gif. Player 2 has
K /images/graemlins/heart.gif J /images/graemlins/heart.gif. The flop is 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, T /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif. Player 1 mucks his hand as the dealr deals the turn and river, both of which are diamonds.

Who takes the pot?
