what a horrible flop for your set. in this case i think a river check is the proper move given the 4 TO A STRAIGHT that is screaming at you on the board, and given that if you are behind, that is the hand to which you are losing. And I think you extracted enough value from your set in this situation.

I think the 3bet is fine. I don't give him credit for the straight yet, he could be check/raising his raggy 2 pair or a lower set.
