Motor City Casino 5-10 9 players

Table is pretty tight. Decent players overall, better than usual for the donkfest that is MCC 5/10

I have been raising about 20% of hands, mainly cause I have good hands, and also, I'm experimenting with lagging it up at tight/weak tables. The SB is a tricky old man. One orbit earlier, he c/r me on the flop with bottom pair no kicker heads up after I raised preflop. He is decent, but not great.

Hip has A /images/graemlins/spade.gif 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif in BB

6 folds, Button limps, SB calls, Hip raises, Button calls, SB calls.

Flop (3 players) 6SB

2 /images/graemlins/club.gif 4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

SB checks, Hip bets, Button folds, SB raises, Hip calls.

At this point, I figure he has some trash pair. I'm raising any 8, A or /images/graemlins/spade.gif on the turn

Turn (2 players) 5BB

8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

SB bets, Hip raises, SB 3-bets, Hip calls

River (2 players) 11BB

SB bets, Hip raises

How does this look? I like the way I played it, just want to know what you all think of it.

I'd 3-bet the flop. Otherwise it looks good.

I like it. If he 3-bets you on the river, I just call and swear when he shows me his set. Otherwise, YHIG.

One change: I agree with the Chief. I like three-betting the flop to try for a free card if needed.

Pokey, on the flop, if there were 3 players to act after me, I'd 3-bet, but it was HU, and this guy would cap if he had a pair, and lead any non Ace turn into me. He was very lag on the flop and turn if he had a piece. I figured I was losing, and I didn't think I could get a free card from this guy. I've played many a hands, so that's why I just called.

Ah, specific read. In that case, I'd say you played it perfectly: given your read on this particular opponent, calling is much better than raising. Sounds like good use of your observational skills -- something many of us need to work on.
