There's a pretty big bug with the avatars on these forums. It'd be better to email Mat but it's easier to make a post than hunt down his email address and etc. Also, if some retard decides to do this, it would be amusing to see him banned.
When you link to an offsite avatar, if it is bigger than the required size, it merely shrinks it. But, it keeps the resolution. I'm explaining this wrong. Regardless, the end result is if you link to a huge avatar, say 4000x4000 pixels, it will slow down everything to a crawl unless you have an incredibly fast computer. Some people already link to pretty big pics and you should notice some slight slowdowns on those, pokerbob comes to mind.
