POKER NEWS FROM SPAIN!

Hello everybody,

We’d like to inform you that the Spanish Poker Clubs Association (SPCA) has been created. The association is based in Valencia, Spain, a beautiful city, host of the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007, located on the Spanish coast approximately 350 km south of Barcelona and about the same distance east of Madrid.

The aim of the Spanish Poker Clubs Association is to: a) improve and develop the already existing poker clubs in Spain, guiding and teaching them the international rules and standards of the game, b) spread knowledge about poker, c) try to give a serious image of the game, d) create more local branches, e) create competent poker dealers within the Spanish territory, f) give instruction and advice to club management and players.

A big task for the SPCA is to change the existing prejudice regarding poker. After all, poker is a game of skill, not only luck.

The SPCA is also creating a poker club network for small and middle sized poker clubs in Spain.

The SPCA’ s main goal in the near future is to organize:

The first “SPANISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP” tournament,
between September 19th-22nd , 2005.
The main event will be a 1,000 €uro buy-in, NL Hold’em tournament.

The two candidate cities for the “SPANISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP” is Valencia and Marbella. The event will begin when the 4th Barcelona Open ends on September 18th 2005. The SPCA wishes to provide the 500 or so, players going to Barcelona, with the possibility of continuing their “poker tour” in Spain.

For more information regarding SPCA and / or the poker activity in Spain, please contact:

That sounds good for poker in Spain, but it really isn't a good idea to spam this across four forums.

Well maybe they'll start dealing clockwise now rather than the other way around that they used to do in Barcelona.

Shouldn't it be the ACPE then?
