before leaving for new york, jason_t told me he was quitting poker

i told him he was a nit and is awesome and did my best to verbally copulate with him, but not to much avail...

i sweated him while he 2 tabled and said i would help him with his game, i corrected him one time during the 2 hour session...

after that he said he felt confident again, but the next morning said he was still quitting...

here is where you can say anything that'll make him feel needed.

ps try to keep the nit talking to a minimum
pps maybe releasing the info on who is jasontisanit would help his confidence

Jason_t don't quit poker unless it is really ruining your life. If it doesn't make you happy at all anymore then it is understandable, but if it is just because you have lost confidence that is loser-like to quit. I give you my firm assurance that you are better than me and its always good to know that you are better than other people, even people who read these boards daily. Thus far I have a miniscule winrate at 2/4 and can't beat 3/6 so I officially suck a lot more than you, I hope you can find confort in that. Also, you are smart in math and I am not so you have that going for you also. The few times I talked to you, you even seemed like a nice person who didn't shun me for being the loser I am so props for your play away from the table as well. If you do leave, you will be missed, so basically just don't.

Even though you hate me Jason, you should still play poker.

That's because he sux at poker and life in general, isn't it obvious.

I don't have any confidence in my game, I just have a compulsion to nit on jason_t. I thought this was a joke, anyway. But I will enjoy the thread villifying my own confidence, as long as I get to respond uncensored. And Pokey gets to die at the end.

You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Just because you don't understand that some words have both a noun and verb usage doesn't mean that you can correct my grammar, buddy.

Ridiculous. Jason_t is better than many SS posters, and once he logs enough hands to have any statistical significance, he will be a solid winner. It's not like he's Schizo or something. Jason can actually play.

brazilio
05-23-2005, 03:47 AM
he does have enough hands to statistically prove he's a winning player, which is why I don't really understand him thinking he sucks.

Dear jason_t,

I do not know who you are outside of reading some of your posts, but you seem like a reasonable human being. Do what makes you happy and everything will be okay. Say you hypothetically quit playing poker, if it is what you really want to do, you will be happy. If you quit and it is not what you really want to do, you will not be happy and resume playing. Of course, everyone on this forum will encourage you to not quit, which, depending on your rationale, I possibly fall into this camp; ultimately, however, your own desires should dictate your decision. In other words, do what you want to do.

The real question is "why quit"? It's hard to attempt to persuade someone no to quit or that quitting is wrong - even despite the fact that Jason obviously knows quite a good deal about poker - unless we know what is motivating him to quit ...

[/ QUOTE ]I can commiserate with Jason, my online game has been horrible of late, I have lost too much money in the past two months, luckily my live play & rakeback has kept me at essentially even. As this has been my first even downswing, its greatly affected my confidence in myself. I have found Poker to be dominating my free time, its an internal struggle to battle my desire to become the best poker player I can be with the other important things in my life, such as my business, my family, even my taxes (which I have once again postponed... a -EV action if there ever was one).

There is one thing that has helped me get through this slump, that’s playing live. Live play has been wonderfully profitable, and it reminds me every time why I started playing this infernal game in the first place.

Hang in there Jason.. tonight’s spew-fest with the NY crew just might help you turn things around. We are all looking forward to meeting you (for those of us who haven't yet such as myself), and rooting for you to pull through this tough time.

Jason:

I have yet to see you make a play recommendation that was demonstrably incorrect. Sure, sometimes we all wander into grey areas, but if there's a right choice in a hand, you manage to find it. Don't give up the game -- the rest of us still need your help.

P.S.: It recently came to my attention that you find the whole "nit" thing offensive. Honestly, I only ever called you that as a joke. I saw the popular kids doing it and I wanted to be like them. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif I apologize if I ever offended you with my comments. In reality, I think you're a solid poker player with much to teach us all. Stick with it!

How come Jason_t didn't tell us himself?

Actually I've seen this coming in some of his posts. Too much of anything can be bad, and maybe he's just overdone it a little, not only with poker but the constant witty and barbed banter with his "droogs." If so, a breather could be a very good thing; a couple weeks or however long it takes until he again feels a desire to play. And maybe never, if it doesn't make him happy to play.

I don't know Jason, but I gather he's still pretty young, maybe 25 or so, and very bright. Hopefully he'll have a long and productive life. Poker may come and go in different ways several times in his life.

OTOH, Klepton may be FOS and Jason may be playing on as if none of this happened. We'll see, won't we?

Jason,

I hope you never took any of the nit alling I said personally, it was only ever meant as a poking fun at you. You're a good player, so you shouldn't even question that. Take a little time off if you need to and play more live poker. Do that and get your head back into it, you'll be fine. Keep your head up

1) Jason is not a nit. He stole my blind numerous times this evening, and even once out played me well enough for me to fold my superior hand against him (well done mate!).

2) Tonight was his comeback night. He won't be quitting, he seems to excited to go to Vegas in June /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'm not quitting. I was, but I'm not. Among other things, I was told that if I quit I am officially gay. I don't want to draw this out at all so I'll pass on the details but my confidence is still rather low. However, I don't want to be officially gay. Now let's just move on.
