Hello everyone! First time poster, long time lurker here. Anyways, this hand from yesterday has really been bugging me and I figured I'd see what you guys thought.
Weekly Saturday tourney at Turning Stone Casino. 2800 chips, 15 minute blind levels. About 100 players, final table gets paid. Pretty uneventful first hour, looking at only 2100 chips after the first break with blinds at 300/600. Generally, after the first hour I tend to take over my table every time. I build my stack up to 8500, probably the table lead, when this hand comes up in the big blind.
31 players left, new player just sat down to my right in the small blind. Blinds 800/1600 a100, I have 6900 after posting, he will have 4500 if and when he completes his blind. Table folds around, he pushes from the small blind. I look down at AhJs.
At first glance, I thought this was an autocall. Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure. If I win the hand I am cruising. If I lose I am crippled. If I fold I'm still fine. The best scenario for me would be if I had him dominated with a weaker ace. If he's pushing practically any 2, are the odds good enough for me to make this call and risk pretty much my entire tourney?
Anyways, I called and he turned over queens. I don't want this to look like one of those posts you despise. I'd be putting this up if he tabled 7-2 offsuit as well.
So what do you guys do in this situation?
