Fold 30 hands straight and then finally raise, get called by A3c and he flops a flush.

Time to fold another 30 hands.

nevermind, raised with AQ to get called by 8T, I bet the flop and he calls with a pair of tens and hits two pair on the turn.

Tourney is not going so well right now.

AZK

I'm in, table 182. I'm playing the beginning of this tourney like I play NL cash, since that is primarily what I play, probably missing out on some value of some hands, for example:

folded to CO who minraises (blinds 10/20), I flat call with JJ, blinds come along, flop comes 664r checked to me, I bet 120 (pot is 160), we go check check on the turn (a 3 making 2 diamonds) when BB calls me. River is a 5, he bets 1/2 pot, I call. He had 99. Is this routine?

I'm also limping early with AK/AQ and the like, since this is what you do in NL with a deepstack, I realize as my stack to blinds ratio goes down you start raising, but in early tourney strategy do you guys play like cash?

Thanks and GL all.

Dunno, it just felt bad when I played it. For some reason I felt like I was drawing dead on the turn. The only good thing about the hand is that Villian played horrible. If he bets a lot more on the river, I have a lot tougher decision to deal with (although I probably still call cause i'm a fish)

If you had MUCKED to his absurd miniraise whilst holding an overpair and 2nd nut flush draw, well, then maybe you could open yourself up to being ripped to pieces by the denizens of this most ruthless of forums.

[/ QUOTE ] No, not really. So long as reraiser didn't go AI with a short stack.

OK, then explain why. Give me stack sizes that make this a fold, stack sizes that make this a call, stack sizes that make this a push.

These are your givens:
Raiser is not put AI by the reraiser
Re-raiser has at least double what he has put in the pot (ie, he didn't mistakenly not go AI).
My stack is of a size that the question is Call/push/fold (ie, calling would leave me with at least half my chips).

100/200 blinds, raiser+re-raiser both have 10k to start

raiser makes it 600, re-raiser makes it 1800.

you have 5k, you have 15k. diff options, imo.

raiser has 15k, re-raiser has 5k. raiser goes 600, re-raiser goes 2500.

you have 5k, you have 15k, you have 25k.
