Sup y'all,

villain is pretty TAGgy, but sometimes gets too tricky (he has a tendency to slowplay flopped sets).

my first thought was to three bet the flop, is that the way to go? I thought he'd raise my turn bet with 99-JJ and help me protect my hand from the coldcaller.

Leading the turn implies you believe that you are ahead.

If so, then why didn't you 3-bet the flop?

I thought that was the best way to get the third party out, but obviously I sacrificed some flop value for that possibility. I'm not sure it was the best play

I think the stop n go here completely gives away your hand, and you'll only be raised by JJ+ or a set, when you're not in great shape. I 3-bet the flop and lead the turn here. If Button is willing to do this much cold-calling, there isn't much else you can do. He probably has some sort of medium PP or something more fishy...I wouldn't worry about his tagging along when you hit the turn.

doesnt a 3 bet-lead combo give away my hand as well?

Stop focusing on protecting your hand. It's costing you money. Your goal with this hand is not protection.

Agreed. Put your foot to the floor in a multiway pot and make them call as much action as you can. You are getting 2-1 odds on every bet. You don't know when the coldcaller will get tired of paying to draw half dead, so charge him the maximum up front.
