View Full Version : Critique My HU Play --- Just 7 Hands

$11 SNG. I am very unsuccessful playing HU. I come in second way more than I should. Here I started out behind. I'm sure there were hands that I should have pushed, but which I didn't. I've tried playing sometimes where I push almost everything. But it seems to backfire. And when I play cautious or tight, it seems to not work also. So any help you could provide would be great. My ROI is suffering badly because I can't finish first more often.

I'd push Dealt to EasilyFound [ 5d, 4c ], Dealt to EasilyFound [ Js, 7s ] and Dealt to EasilyFound [ 7d, 6c ]. If I decided to play Q5, I'd push that too.

The 54 hand is marginal though.

What works for me (and verified by eastbays program)is pushing from the small blind with a WIDE range of hands. If I get a HUGE chip lead I will push 72 offsuit.

Calling a push, I like to be a bit tighter when covered, but not much. I'll pretty much call with any ace or two faces.

The SB aggression has put me into a lot of firsts. It REALLY bugs the opponent when you push trash and beat them.

Just my two cents. Get eastbays program and open up some of your old hand histories, you'll see DOZENS of missed push opportunities.

I'm not a big fan of just calling his min raise here for over 1/7th of your stack. If I wanted to play this hand, I'd come over the top.

J7 you can call there getting 3:1 just like you did on the final hand.

These guys that minraise you from the sb but (almost) always fold to your sb all ins are easy to beat in the long run. They wait for a really big hand to 'trap' you with when you raise all in meanwhile give you a chance to trap them for small money when you are on the bb.

The last hand just didn't work out. Most times he doesn't have a Q (set, 2 pr, str8) or a high heart and you take this down on the flop.

I don't know what you'd like me to say. I was just complementing the information given by the other posters, as I have nothing new to add except for "the 54o hand is a push." I don't have eastbay's program on this computer, but when I ran the numbers on the hand last night it was significantly +EV to push 54o against even a very loose caller. The only time that it is -EV is if he's calling any two, which is obviously not the case.
