I was watching the simpsons, and it was about going to "international waters".
They said you can do anything you want (no law), is this true?
And where does international waters start (like distance off coast).
Also, what is the first thing you think you would do?

Damn, I thought this was going to be some random question about international waters, and then I could chime in with a simpsons joke. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

The standard that most countries recognize is 12 miles. What countries CLAIM varies widely. Which is BS. U.S. recognizes 12 miles.

Couple of years ago, I think Chile shot at a U.S. C-130 that was over international waters (maybe 100 miles) off their coast. They claimed something outrageous, like 300 miles.

I believe international waters are covered by the international law that is regulated by the united nations.

Ok, but not all countries are members of the United Nations, so what gives them the right to make the law?

They have the biggest guns!

I really dont know if this is even true but I am pretty sure they are the ones that wrote the laws covering international waters. I dont know who actually polices them though but I do know for sure you can goto prison for piracy so somebody is controlling the waters.

I don't think there are statutory rape laws in International Waters!

That's why I love cruises.

Am the only one who thinks that a 19 year old guy and 17 year old girl = one night of fun?

.......

Dude... is it wrong if a 28 year old marries a 25 year old..

19 and 17 are fine. A 17 year old girl is at like the same maturity level as a 19 year old guy. Developmentally wise too.

Also, 17 is the prime of women look wise. IMO

Personally I don't think having feelings (nothing more than that) for a minor of any age is "sick" but the grey line of what's morally allowed and what's not is kinda hazy, you have to admit. Most people would think 19-17 is fine though.

This is getting off topic though.

So are international waters just really badly policed or something? Why were Team Zisou so afraid of pirates in The Life Aquatic?

Probably because of the pirates they encounter.

Anyways to BJ and the other guy: I think it is perfectly normal for a 19 and 17 year old to have relations. Just use the older age divided by 2 plus 7 rule and you'll be fine and not gross.

ok back on topic then, I have been searching for over an hour trying to find some answers to this but I cant find anything other than international water export and import.

The closest thing I have found is this http://www.un.org/Depts/los/index.htm

Well would you want a girl in middle school dating a high schooler? It doesn't really extend that much and you can give/take a bit, but it is in general a good measure. Also, maturity takes a big part in relationships, I figure.

I actually agree with the /2 + 7 rule for the most part.

Senior in College hooking up with a newly minted freshmen is sketchy - but fun!

As a teenager, I worked on a fishing boat one summer. We got chased by a Cuban gunboat, well outside their national waters. They fired a few token shots over our heads. I forget what they claim, but it's something ridiculous.
