This hand just came up in a party $100. How do you like my line here? I didn't fire on the flop because I figured it was very likely I'd be checkraised, either by a PP or a worse hand, and didn't want to be pushed off the hand that easily. Maybe it was fancy play syndrome checking behind on the turn, but I didn't think a worse hand would pay off, which is also why I smoothcalled the river. Still would like comments on the turn check.

Edit: Nevermind, looking back, i definately should have raised the river. Just because I'm often chopping, I should at least try to get his stack here, and not worry about quads.

yuck.

i'm okay with checking through on the turn to set him up to take a stab at it on the river....but smooth-calling there is lousy as you point out in your edit.

If you min-raise him here he'll be paying you off with an 8 or any other pair and possibly with just a bare king.

Maybe playing at 2AM is a bad idea...

My thoughts exactly. After all, you checked the turn to persuade him to bet the river with an inferior hand.

I've been a lot less afraid of monsters under the bed lately, I bet here. Probably chopping but he may be sitting with a PP and you take it.

Honestly, I don't think you left chips on the table here. Can he call a river raise with less than an ace?

On the other hand he's very unlikely to have Quads (obviously) so there's no harm in a river raise, but I probably minraise since he's so unlikely to call with anything less than QQQAA.

i would bet the flop and call a moderate c/r. you've got 7 outs against a pp < TT (1 for the case Q). you don't want to let a hand like KTs stick around for a free card. you could also be value betting against a smaller A.

i like the turn check.

i like the river call. an 8 is not paying off a river raise, but an A is reraising, so you have to pay off the case Q, which sucks.

if you're the SB and you see a utg+1 raise, you've got to assume it's a pair or Ax. i don't think you get paid off enough to risk stacking off against Qx (or the unlikely AA).
