Villain in the hand has just been moved to the table so no reads on him.

Just wondering what the standard play is because I am trying to improve my tourney play.

You need to make a bigger raise, the mini raise is not a good play. I would have made it 325 to go instead of 200. You have a huge hand, i wouldn't consider folding it on the flop. It looks like a steal on the turn. If you feel like taking a little bit of a gamble push the turn.

I reraise the flop here to about 450 total and see what he does. Blind battles like this you see many big blinds thinking they can take the sb at will, especially with a large stack like this.

You are ahead of most hands that he can have on the flop Lethal. Unless he has trips or two pair or Q-8, you are a favorite to win the hand. Use that to be aggressive and add FE to your blind battle. I don't let myself be bullied in this situation.

If you do this on the flop, I doubt he bets like he does on the turn. You just have to play odds at this point though. With the situation that you have, you have a little FE if you reraise All-in, but he's definitely not giving you odds to catch your 9 or 16 outs. So I fold on the turn here with this line, but again, if you play the flop differently, I think you might be able to see a river for cheaper.

I don't think he was looking for a better line on the flop. No one here has any idea if villian would or would not have done the same thing had you raised to 350 or 425. While min raises are generally not a great idea, I don't think it was terrible here. A weaker player may check the turn, and then you could make a bigger bet and take the pot down or take a free card.

I think you are beat when he bets 1000 into the pot. If all of your outs are clean, which they likely are, you have:

nine clubs, two 7s, and three 8s (take out the club). With 14 outs (I think I counted right), you're about 3:5-1 to make your hand. I don't think you have much folding equity, but you may have some.

I'd push or fold here, but lean toward fold, only because you'd still be in decent shape in the tournament and could get a better spot. Your 14 outs may not be clean, you're likely behind, and you don't have a guarantee that he lays it down, particularly since he's got the chips to make a marginal call with a hand that still beats yours.

I don't think there is a clear-cut answer to this, but would listen to other perspectives.

EDIT: the more I look at it, the less likely you are to have 14 clean outs.

I posted this hand because I always seem to do something stupid to either cripple me or eliminate me when I'm in the big blind. I think my biggest problem in these situations is that I want to try and win every hand in which I am involved.

Make a real raise on the flop. By doing that you may pick up the pot or get to see the turn and river without investing any more money.
