Since I got in to work this morning everyone has been talking about who would win a fight between Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain. I have my opinion and can't believe that we have been having this arguement for the past hour.

What does David Stern like in his coffee?

Chamberlain is decomposing nicely these days. Hard to imagine he'd put up much resistance.

I assume this means if both were at their physical prime. If so, I would have to make Kareem about -2000 in the money line. Those who voted for Wilt were probably not aware that Kareem is a martial arts expert tought, in part, by Bruce Lee himself.

If he were alive and Kareem were stupid enough to take the fight, Wilt would shred him. I'm 6'3 230lbs, I'm not giant, but rarely feel small. I felt small 100 yards away from Wilt watching him play beach volleyball once, he wasn't just tall...he was a huge man.

"The Game of Death" with Kareem as the final boss rules. I loves when he kicks Lee and leaves a footprint the size of his torso.

Kareem actually trained in martial-arts, so I would pick him.

Kareem and it's not even close. He was a student of Bruce Lee.

Kareem is the right choice. The martial arts training makes him a huge favorite IMO. All of the meatheads in my office say that it doesn't matter.

I think martial arts training is one of the most overrated things out there. I'm not sure it means anything at all. I've known plenty of girls who are black belts and they can't even do a pullup.

Once Wilt managed to get close enough to wrestle Kareem to the ground it would be over. I don't think Kareem would be able to incapacitate him prior to this happening.

Yeah, but there is a big difference between a girl who can't do a pullup and a 6'10" basketball player.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would clearly win this fight...

Little known fact is that he is a pupil of the Kung Fu Master - Bruce Lee, under whom he studied Jeet Kune Do.

What good is all that when Wilt could just overwhelm him? I think his fists of fury would be beaten down by a couple shot to the chops.

i dont think martial arts is all about "fists of furry" i'm guessing up close is where Kareem would have the real advantage. my XP is that people with marial arts training are great at arm, leg, and head locks that are incapacitating.

Wasn't Kareem in a Bruce Lee movie with a big afro?

Yea. There's a website about Wilt studying martial arts for that role, but I don't think it makes him an expert. Still he wasn't completely untrained...

Not really. A lot of actors/stars trained w/ Bruce Lee that I wouldn't be afraid of.
