Based on my inability to answer Sklansky's scenario on this board, I think I need a better understanding of how to apply Game theory to poker situations.

Can anyone recommend a good reference for a tutorial on game theory? I've got a strong math and stats background, but almost no knowledge of game theory. Extra plus if it's poker or gambling focused.

Theory of Games and Economic Behavior
by Oskar Morgenstern, John Von Neumann

It has a section on a poker-like game. Von Neumann more or less invented game theory. (Incidentally, you don't need to know game theory to answer Sklansky's question.)

If you haven't yet, you should read Theory of Poker.

There is an excellent book by an MIT prof. named Nesmith Ankheny. It has a tile that I can't remember, but is something like Winning Poker with Game Theory. Its examples are drawn from draw poker.

Thanks for all the advice. I bought the Nesmith book, and took Von Neumann's out from the library.

Once I've had time to digest, I'll post a quick literature review for anyone else that's interested.
