View Full Version : Turn question: bet or checkraise?

A flush draw (with a slim possibility of the case Ace) seems mightily likely for the loose-passive BB caught in the midst of all of our raising -- I can't see what else he'd be calling so many flop bets with (he hasn't been terrible, just a little on the loose-passive side). Given that, do we prefer betting over checkraising since it'll usually allow me to get 3 or 4 bets in with the added possibility of trapping a drawing hand?

A flush draw is sticking around no matter what. I would checkraise the turn.

What happened on the river?

Right -- if BB is on a flush draw, he isn't folding, and I prefer betting the turn if that's the case (since Button has an Ace here and will raise always, letting me get in 3-bets at the least).

Since I'm reasonably sure Button will raise a bet but I'm not sure that he'll 3-bet a checkraise, I went for the bet. Button was all-in after the turn was capped so the river action was null.

If he has an 8 or a pp he might call 1 twice if you cr.

It's more likely he's on a flush draw given we can see 3 of the 4 eights.

He's calling 2 cold with an A or a flush draw. Betting is dope.

Really? So what did he fold on the turn?

Probably not an A or a flush draw...

I think BB could have a pocket pair about just as often as an Ace or flush draw combined. I think we need to know to what degree does BB's looseness goes. If he's giving up on hands like 99-TT for 2 cold, then it might be better to check-raise. Also, if button is overplaying something like KK-JJ he might not raise the turn, but will call a check-raise and a river bet. I'd probably check-raise here.

This is great position for you on the turn. You can probably trap BB for a bet or two by check-raising the Button.

I vote bet 3 bet as well. Flushy drawer wont fold. Ace wont fold. I think leading turn is the best possible way to get this turn capped 3ways.

Lots of disagreement on this one. I go for bet 3 bet.
