In America, pie is almost always a desert. Exceptions: pot pie, shepard's pie.

I don't generally consider cheesecake to be a type of pie.

The Stranger

Not the way my grandma or the Cheesecake Factory make it. Those are the only ones I've tried.

JaBlue
05-17-2005, 04:32 AM

soah

Yes. And it is noticably different than every other option on the list.

You have a selection for strawberry and one for rhubarb, but not combined. The best pie on the planet is strawberry/rhubarb as made by my Mom.

Somehow I feel that if you include cheesecake you might as well include quiche or meat pies. It's really not like the other pies. Maybe that's why they call it cake. Not that it's all that much like cake either.

But it's more like cake than pie. It's in no danger of collapsing with or without the crust or as you slice it and move it, and isn't watery and doesn't slosh out to the sides. It's a unified thing that stands on its own, like a piece of cake. Cheesecake!

Other is winning. I guess there are some real pie afficianados here. I thought twelve options should have been enough. Its more than Coco's gives you.

Yes, I should have included key lime, and one that nobody has mentioned yet, cherry pie.

I love pie.

Benal

Sugar Pie. I'm serious. It's a french thing. If ever you're in Quebec (I don't think you'll find this in France), and you see "Tarte Au Sucre" on the desert menu, order it.. you will not be disapointed.

A close second would be Peach Pie. Good stuff.

we did this last year or so. the answer is huckleberry. which is a tart blueberry found at only higer elevations. they are about 40 bucks now for a gallon zip lock of them. we pick them around montana and eat them when hiking as they are along the trails. they do make the best pie as it goes quick anyplace at any price.

strawberry rubarb is close.
cow pies are at the bottom.
