This guy was maniac x 10 . He was putting people all-in on every hand. He was nuts.

Would you call this? I was trying to figure out why on earth he would put me all-in on the turn if he did have a flush.

Push PF or raise to more than 200, but I like a push, especially against a maniac.

I knew he would knock me out.

Get this. He knocked out 7 of 9 players. He knocked out everyone of them.

edit: he knocked out 7 of 9. I thought he knocked them all out but he didn't.

Take notes, keep hoping to play with him & push pre-flop. I don't want to have to worry about a missed flop & be down to only 10x blinds are so. You need to see all 5 cards with AK. I know it's frustrating but just keep getting your money in with the best hand, especially with this guy.

The best way to beat a maniac is to play back at him. Play very tight and when you get a strong hand, limp. When he raises you, push no matter how many chips that would be or what level.

Poker is all about adjustments. You can't play passively against a maniac. You have to beat him at his own game.

He can still beat you by calling crap all-in and outdrawing you. But you know the rule: All you can do is put all your money in the best situation. Do that enough and you'll win more often than not.

[/ QUOTE ]He obviously wasn't a TOTAL maniac post-flop - he managed to get a free card from you.

You lost right there. Why are you checking this? Against ANY player you are dealing with a straight and flush draw yet you hit TPTK; you should NEVER check that flop.

You failed to beat your opponent at his own game and he outdrew you when you let him.

Eh, I'd rather let him see that the Manic didn't do anything to him that he didn't allow. He bent over and gamely provided some lube and dropped trow... It's not a shock the guy took it up the ass.

Why are you calling a min-raise from a maniac with AK during lvl 4?

I checked because the guy was being such a [censored] maniac. He bet everything. I was going to check raise him all-in on the flop.

BAADDDBEAAATTTTTTTT. I think you just got outplayed. You checked, hoping to CR, and he was smart enough to take the free card. I think you should just bet that flop and never again call a miniraise with AK. Fold preflop.

And yes, theredpill, you got outplayed plain and simple. If you're not going to reraise preflop, then fold preflop.

I rarely re-raise preflop with AK but against this guy I would make an exception. To say I got out-played is giving this guy too much credit. He wasn't that good but he was just winning every hand just because that is the nature of variance.

Wow, you managed to outplay yourself on two decisions in the same hand. Nice.

Not reraising PF is bad enough but if you were gonna slowplay AK *there* not doing anything on the flop was worse.

He's a maniac. You want him to bluff raise and that means you have to bet at some point.

No...not really, you want him to raise you so you can rersaise him. Maniacs are fun bc they are easy to trap.

That said, AK is not really a trap hand here.

This is basic...you opted for the riskier move of CRing and you missed it. So what? On a less scary board it wouldve been the right play, but not with those draws. In any regard, a bonafide maniac wouldnt fold a flush draw easily so I doubt there was much you could do to escape your fate here.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly because you weren\'t expecting him to put you all-in if he had a flush.

There are a few requirements for CR (and slowplaying for that matter), and one of them is having a dry texture on the flop. The call PF is really not good, but not betting the flop is the worst.

You got outplayed here. Kudos to the maniac, he wasn\'t really a maniac after all.
