Villain is new at the table, but really shouldn't matter. A sure sign I'm playing lousy poker with this river play. Albeit I thought we were chopping and the flush hit, but there's no excuse for missing the raise... right?

I dont think your equity is good enough for a 3 bet on the flop just because of the 2 clubs, The turn is good, looks like he has Ax /images/graemlins/club.gif

A river raise would be spewing w/out a read.

you lock down on a read WAY to soon. A river cap would be spewing w/out a read. A river raise is just good poker

Reading the other guys posts, 2 pair or a smaller straight looks more probable. This makes the turn and river plays more obvious but how about the flop?

We dont take villain off a flush draw until he caps the turn so do we still 3 bet the flop knowing villain could be on a flush, or just call the raise?

Sane opponents do not cap the turn with a pair and flush draw.

Not raising the river is bad.

3-betting likely gives you a free card.

The problem with raising the river is that the flush has to look just as scary to him as it does to you. He also might have the same hand as you. Plus he might not call a raise unless he has you beat.

Thank you. Just what I was looking for. Turns out the guy turned top two pair with AJ. Most likely I lost 1BB out of this as I couldn't see him 3-betting me, but damn I suck.

As for the flop 3-bet, I think his is easy. I got an OESD with two overcards that might be good and I have position. If I hit then I can bet the turn again, and if not I get to see a river for .5BB less.

at the 6handed 5/10 tables ive seen a lot of loose action.. villian could easily be holding ATc right here.. which he assumes he has 13 outs to pretty much any hand.. or Q9.. definitely possible
but ya, raise the river for value, call a reraise i'd think.

BB's checkraise/cap of the turn looks flush freerollish, but you have Q/images/graemlins/club.gif, so hmmmmm. 97 clubs doesn't seem too likely. AK or AT clubs seems somewhat likely. I just don't see him spewing like this, barring some read on you of course, without a nut redraw or perhaps some kind of preflop slowplay with AA or JJ. I think your raise of his turn checkraise sees to that. So on the river, you have to weigh the redraw getting there vs. him overplaying something. Are you ahead/chopping 2/3's of the time? I think its fairly close since you hold the Q/images/graemlins/club.gif. If you didn't hold the Q/images/graemlins/club.gif, I wouldn't raise the river.
