In a typical .50/$1 game (not too passive, not too aggressive) an average player raises from UTG, and another average player 3 bets from MP. You have JJ. Call, fold, or cap?

CAP IT BIOTCH

Depends. I'd either fold or cap. I have folded TT to a 3 bet before, and JJ isn't that much better so I'd probably fold.

Cap it.

If it's two fairly tight solid player's, you might consider folding, but against 0.50/1.00 "average" player's I would cap it. Unless you can put them on QQ, KK, AA I think you have to cap. It's quite possible you could be up against AKo, AKs, or AQ. Plus even if they do have a higher pocket pair if you happen to spike your J, you're on your way to a huge payoff.

Plus by capping you could buy yourself a free card on the flop if you choose.

Do you guys fold or cap with TT when it's 3 bets to you.

I'd call (although i dont think folding is too bad an option) and see what happens...if utg caps then you know where you stand and you can probably get a bet and a raise on the J high flop your about to hit.

TT is about where I draw the line. With JJ I'm capping, but with TT it depends a lot on the number of people who are coming along and, of course, reads.

I usually don't cap with JJ unless players are maniacs.

I'm calling here and seing what develops with EP and the flop.

dynasty once wrote that this was an easy fold. I tend to agree

With JJ I'm capping

What hands will normally 3 bet PF?

AA-JJ, AKs AKo, AQs. You are about in the middle of this range. For me this makes this a call.

It really depends on the game. In a typical .50/$1 online game, it's a call on the button. I'd fold in a typical $1/2 game.

Cap, for all the times you'll see TT and 99, or AK and AQ sharing overcards it is worth it.

Does anyone have any hands or stats to dig up showing what happens when they cap or call 3 bets cold here? I'm folding but only because I love following charts.

What do you guys do with AK in this situation? Suited and not?

FWIW - assuming you credit the hands
equity (%)
Hand 1: 28.8408 % { JdJc }
Hand 2: 29.6799 % { AA-TT, AKs-AJs, KQs, AKo-AQo }
Hand 3: 41.4793 % { AA-JJ, AKs-AQs, AKo }

pot=6.5sb fold costs 1.82sb call costs 3sb

It gets a bit better if you have a loose read on both of them - but fold still costs 2.21sb ie. less than a call
equity (%)
Hand 1: 34.0843 % { JhJc }
Hand 2: 26.6197 % { AA-99, AKs-A9s, KQs-KJs, AKo-AJo, KQo }
Hand 3: 39.2960 % { AA-JJ, AKs-AJs, KQs, AKo-AQo }

Can anyone comment whether I'm using pokerstove properly?

I always fold JJ to a 3-bet, but everybody disagrees with me in the following thread:
