Computer Question

The last day my computer has started doing a weird thing where when left idle the screensaver will come on after a bit, then after awhile of that it like shuts down into a dormant mode which is normal. Only now as soon as it does that, it restarts like the mouse has been shaken and the whole process gets repeated over and over. I imagine this going on for long periods would drain resources or something.

Does anyone know what may be the cause of this? Thanks.

Is this a laptop? What OS? Is hibernation turned on?

Have you recently installed anything new? Etc, etc...
