Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (4 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

BB (t475)
Hero (t1535)
Button (t1910)
SB (t6080)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif.

No real reads. I had stolen the blinds on the previous hand.

This is a 109.

limp/minraise.

or push, but I don't like that too much.

If I were one to make prop bets, I'd take one for push right now.

Minraise.

I don't really get what min-raising accomplishes that limping doesn't. Then you're in a tougher spot should the big blind put you in and the BB fold.

Push will obviously win this poll, but I don't think that 75% of the voters will think too hard (or fully understand) about the situation.

I replied to that in the other thread - I don't mind losing whatever FE I lose because if the SB is pushing any two I'm about a 65% favorite, and if he's only pushing real hands I would have gotten called when I pushed anyway.

What minraising is supposed to do is get me away from the rare hands where everyone else gets involved except me.

40% of your stack on the bubble only to hedge against "rare times" is -EV IMO. I understand your "all things being equal argument" but I dont see it mattering enough to warrant a minraise.

I can see the benefit, but I think the cost is that you have greatly expanded SB's calling range and if you end up postflop with him and a real shorty at T175, you will very vulnerable.

And by expanded I don't mean to any two, but to include most any combo of 2 overcards.

How am I supposed to get a http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/images/hottopic.gif for my post if you guys are posting in 2 different threads?

PVS, I'd be interested to hear what you think is the best line too... your opinion is of value around here. Did you take one like, then wish you'd have done something else after the fact?

Would it change anything if the BB only had 5 chips?

Yeah, I'd push then. The whole point of limping to to make sure the BB is playing for his stack before I commit all of my chips.

Edit - now that I think about it, maybe the 155 chips available wouldn't be worth a push. I'd have to think about that one. But I would have no problem committing my stack preflop since BB would be all-in with a random hand.
