Well, I managed to put several bets in and not see a showdown. I hate when I do that. Should I bet/fold or check/call the river here instead?

Read on villain: He's way too loose preflop and he's a bit aggressive. I have yet to catch him making a complete donk bet, but I only had about 30-40 hands on him at the time. His stats are 43/8/1.5 with a WTSD of 28% after 53 hands.

I don't think you can fold after checking the river.
How about bet the river and fold to a raise?

That's kind of what I am thinking, though I don't know whether check/call will induce bluffs and make it a better line than bet/fold.

At the lower limits, I felt that most loose opponents were passive enough that I could check and fold to a bet here, and they would often check behind even with a mid- to low- heart here.

But I don't know if that's the case here. This opponent seemed aggressive enough, and he might not have known much about pot odds or domination, but he probably can tell that a bet/bet/check line shows weakness.

I don't think I'd raise pf out of the SB.

I agree with that (and if I didn't raise preflop, I'd be inclined to either check/fold or check/raise the flop).

I don't know about the river. Bet/fold "feels" better than check/fold or check/call, but I'm having trouble thinking of what hands you beat that called your flop and turn bets (K8?, K7?)...
